Reconversion Sculpture

Created by David Martinello

David Martinello uses print, sculpture, painting, poetry,
installation and performance alongside traditional woodworking to explore the embedded gestures
of wood. Working with the natural attributes of wood Martinello employs the material to be a contemplative node as a way to connect to the environment.

Martinello’s practice is informed by a BFA from
Queen’s University and years building furniture with his
company Alternative Woodworks. He has curated solo and group shows around BC, owned a commercial gallery and his art has been seen across Canada with public works of art commissioned by the Cowichan Community Centre and the City of Nanaimo.
